The #1 players in both the Men’s and Women’s draws have been excused. The Men’s Doubles draw lost the Bryan brothers in the first round to unseeded Lindstedt (SWE)/Nieminen (FIN) 6-4, 6-4.

12th seed No Li of China upset 7th seed Jelena Jankovic (SRB) 6-3, 7-6(1). Sybille Bammer (AUT), seeded 33 prevailed over 10th seed Ana Ivanovic (SRB) 6-7(6), 6-0, 6-3. Tonight, third seed Martina Hingas was defeated by 14th seed Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 6-3.

The upsets continue everyday, this is a good sign that the fields are deep and anything can happen on any given day.
