2007 ATP-WTA Tour Pacific Life Open - At The Indian Wells Tennis Garden - Day 4

Upsets All Day, All Night

Indian Wells, Tuesday – “There was a lot of wrong things going on today”. Maria Sharapova (RUS) summed up the 2007 Pacific Life Open in one sentence.

She was referring to her own lose to 20th ranked Vera Zvonareva (RUS) 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. She could have been talking about the whole tournament. The #1 players in both the Men’s and Women’s draws have been excused. The Men’s Doubles draw lost the Bryan brothers in the first round to unseeded Lindstedt (SWE)/Nieminen (FIN) 6-4, 6-4.

12th seed No Li of China upset 7th seed Jelena Jankovic (SRB) 6-3, 7-6(1). Sybille Bammer (AUT), seeded 33 prevailed over 10th seed Ana Ivanovic (SRB) 6-7(6), 6-0, 6-3. Tonight, third seed Martina Hingas was defeated by 14th seed Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 6-3.

The upsets continue everyday, this is a good sign that the fields are deep and anything can happen on any given day.
